A week-long teacher certification training event will be held Sept 8-13, 2008 at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College, IN. Detailed information will be available soon on the certification page. **Please note that this event will replace the fall training camp previously planned at that time.**

Dr. Yang Yang was busy with a flurry of activity during the second half of 2007, including workshops/presentations at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, the American Public Health Association Annual Meeting in Washginton, DC, the International Council on Active Aging in Orlando, FL, the International Longevity Center in NYC, and the Complimentary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) conference in Chicago sponsored by the University of Illinois Chicago and Mayo Clinic. Over 40 prospective teachers attended the innaugural Evidence-Based Taiji (EBT) teacher certification training event from October 28 - November 2, 2007. Based on experice from this event (many were overwhelmed by the depth of instruction offered by Dr. Yang), the teacher certification program will be modified in 2008. In order to save the time of all persons involved, prospective teachers will be required to receive training from EBT senior instructors before studying and testing with Dr. Yang.

The UIUC news bureau has released a story regarding Dr. Yang's research on the effect of Taiji and Qigong practice on immune function - specifically, antibody response to flu vaccination in older adults.

A brief excerpt from the introduction to Yang Laoshi's book will be read on the Brian Lehrer Show on New York Public Radio WNYC on Monday, January 15, 2007. The annual celebration of Martin Luther King Day features volunteers reading from cultures other than their own. Beth Schachter, Ph.D. will read an excerpt describing how Taiji changed Yang's life and why it could be valuable to people of all cultures.
Yang Laoshi was recently awarded the title "Qigong Master of the Year" by the 9th World Congress on Qigong and Traditional Chinese Medicine in Los Angeles.
A new article, Nurturing Body and Mind, has been added to the Articles page. This paper appeared in the Spring 2006 issue of Innovations, a publication of the National Council on Aging (NCOA). The article features Yang Laoshi's research at the University of Illinois.
Yang Laoshi was interviewed for a segment on Retirement Living Television. The segment will air Thursday, October 26 at 3:00 pm on Comcast Channel 8, and may also be viewed online at 3:00 at www.rl.tv.
A new article, titled Best Taiji Practices, has been added to the articles page. This article is a July 2006 version of Dr. Yang Yang's white paper initially drafted for the National Expert Meeting on Qi Gong and Tai Chi held in November, 2005 at the University of Illinois. Yang Laoshi will also present this paper as part of a seminar at the 2006 International Forum on Taijiquan in Thunder Bay, Ontario. The material in this white paper is largerly abridged from Yang Yang's book Taijiquan, The Art of Nurturing, The Science of Power.
The news bureau at the University of Illinois has released a story about Yang Laoshi's doctoral research at the U of I. The story, titled Research reinforces findings that Chinese exercises benefit older adults, was quickly picked up by UPI and portions will appear in newspapers and on-line news sources worldwide.
Yang Yang's first book, Taijiquan - The Art of Nurturing, The Science of Power, has been awarded the distinguished Award for Excellence in Publishing at the Chicago Book Clinic's 54th Book and Media Show. The book was selected as first place winner in the General Trade with 1 color interior - Instructional/Self-help category. Established in 1949, the Book and Media Show honors excellence in book production and design from titles published, designed or manufactured in the Midwest. The 2005 award presentation was held on November 10, 2005, at the at the Chicago City Centre Hotel, 300 East Ohio Street Chicago, IL.

Three new VCDs are now available on our videos page - Grandmaster Feng's 38 Movement Broadsword (Dao), 48 Movement Sword (Jian), and 38 movement Erlu (Paocui) forms. This is the only site in the United States authorized by Master Feng to distribute these VCDs, and proceeds of the sales go to Master Feng.
We are pleased to announce the release of a music CD - Elixir: Music for Moving and Still Meditation. The music on this CD was composed by a master Chinese musician and longtime practioner of qigong meditation as an aid for research being conducted by the Center for Taiji Studies.
